A Message for all customers

We have been overwhelmed by the popularity of The Tickled Trout this summer, after so long being empty and preparing for our return, it comes as a wonderful surprise and we are incredibly pleased to see so many of you!

There have been so any changes we have had to make in order to comply with government guidelines, and strategies are still being tested daily to ensure the delivery of quality food and service with the utmost level of assistance and professionalism in a very restrictive and unfamiliar environment.
After many years building a system that works efficiently for the volume of people we attract, suddenly we find ourselves very stretched in adapting to alternative solutions. New concepts are still very much on trial every day, we appreciate your co-operation as we continue to figure a few things out!

As you can see, we are having to provide table service to all customers as it is logistically impossible to accommodate people queuing at the bar inside- this in turn greatly lengthens the time it takes to process individual orders, all we ask is you remain patient and enjoy being waited on!
We have implemented new technology to aid us with efficiency, which has unfortunately let us down at key moments. We have employed many new staff, who have had to learn quickly in strange and pressurised circumstances, all of whom are doing remarkably well, so we hope you can be understanding and supportive to all our guys, who are doing their very best to deliver the level of service you are accustomed to.

We wish for all of our customers to be completely satisfied, and our aim is to provide a garden dining experience you will remember, we can only apologise in advance if you encounter problems of any kind, endure a long waiting time, or cannot be seated exactly where you wish to be- our promise is we are doing our best to meet individual requirements, as we continue to implement new strategies that work with the restrictions we face.

PLEASE REMEMBER- we are still in a global pandemic- all guidelines apply to our establishment and are in place for your safety, we hope you can remain patient and understanding at this critical time.
We truly value your custom and look forward to seeing you soon

For more than 400 years, an Inn or Tavern has stood on the banks of the River Stour where the Tickled Trout now stands.

The Tickled Trout is typical of the distinctive Kentish architecture of the period and greets the visitor with a welcoming and unique ‘olde world’ charm.

We strive to maintain this charm of oak beamed bars and open fires for our customers.
Our well maintained gardens alongside the River Stour, provide the ideal setting for ‘Al fresco’ drinks and dining, with a superb choice from selective menus for which we are renowned.
